We teach the value of reading.
Randolph School supports three libraries, one for each division. The value of reading and research application is a cornerstone of our college preparatory curriculum. Librarians work directly with teachers to integrate library lessons into the curriculum and keep a current, vibrant collection of resources for students, including books, databases, films, and audio books.
Our students are reading early and often.

Lower School
The Lower School Library is bright, cheerful, organized and designed to encourage an early love of reading. Students have regular access to the library and are guided to books that match their reading level and interests. In partnership with teachers and parents, the library maintains the Visible Thinking Program, facilitates power lessons in conjunction with what students are studying in the classroom, provides book carts aka "mini libraries" for each grade, and organizes book collections for students to take home.
Middle School
The Middle School Library is an inviting space where we nurture curiosity, promote a love of reading, and prepare students in grades 5-8 to be effective researchers. A large, current collection of print material supports both the curriculum and the recreational interests of our students, along with access to databases and audiobooks. The library is the hub of the Middle School and supports the classroom curriculum with resources and instruction. Students visit the library during regularly scheduled classes and free times. The library curriculum is designed to help students access, evaluate and use information from a rich collection of sources.
Upper School
Randolph's Upper School Library collection is well-rounded and supports ongoing research projects. Some of our databases are collegiate level and give students a head start on college level methods of research. Given the plethora of information we're surrounded with, we teach students how to process, vet, and source that information and determine if it's a solid source to build upon in a responsible way. Our goal is for these skills to help students transform facts and research into a personal knowledge base that enriches their lives and ultimately, adds value to the world.
