Randolph School Students Excel on National Spanish Exams & Four Earn Perfect Scores
Randolph School is excited to celebrate the accomplishments of its World Languages Department and students who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2023 National Spanish Examinations.
Among all of the NSE testing participants nationally who were awarded medals, Randolph School students ranked 5th (gold), 8th (silver), and 32nd (bronze). This includes both Middle and Upper School students, with 7th and 8th graders accounting for 76 of the School’s overall total of 126 medals.
In April of 2023, Randolph Middle School Spanish students sat for the National Spanish Exam, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. A total of 95 students were officially recognized for their achievements on the exam. The 7th and 8th graders earned a total of 31 Gold, 29 Silver, and 16 Bronze medals, with 19 honorable mentions. Additionally, 49/51 students in the 8th grade received official achievement recognition on this exam.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Lisa Greenman, National Director of the Exams. “It’s because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with nearly 85,000 students participating in 2023.”
Students from Randolph School have a long history of high achievement on these exams and were taught by Middle School Spanish teachers Stephanie Dwyer and Kelli Proctor and Upper School Spanish Teachers Rosa Almodovar, Noah Hoppe-McQueen, Tamara Trownsell.
